About Fiber Chair Seats

Note The Embossed pattern is not always centered on the board. In some cases, the pattern is as much as 3/16" off center. This usually poses no problem because most people trim them to fit their particular chair. Many people claim to have leather seats when in fact it they are a paper material which has been stained and varnish. Fiber seats are meant to replace those paper seats.

Chair Seats are Made of a specially formulated fiberboard that will not separate. They can be trimmed with a pair of shears, tin snips or a band saw. They can be painted , stained, sealed, or used as is. As these boards take stain differently than wood, we recommend using a piece of trimmed scrap from the seat board to test the results.

AD 3501 Decorative Nails are the most popular for the installation of chair seats as they have small heads with a low dome. Other nails also work well. Nails work for Fiber Seats, Leather Seats and Wood Seats.

To determine the amount of nails necessary, plan on using at least one nail one to one and a half inch apart. For example, a chair seat 13" in diameter using a 1 1/2" spacing would require 28 nails.
